MEDIA LITERACY PROJECT:
WHAT THE CELL? 

This project was a team effort between myself and Eulani Labay as a desgin powerhouse that provided expertise from strategy to production. We were one of many partners working with the Center for Urban Pedagogy to use art and design to create visually based education tools that demystify urban policy issues-in this case the patterns of ownership and regulation in the world of cellular infrastructure. Each partner contributed special insights into the world of cell phone usage and media literacy with the hope that increased understanding of the systems lead to a greater participation among diverse communities.

Our role was to help wrangle the partner’s divergent materials, review those materials and make recommendations on visual strategy and language for the overall project. This led us to create an illustrated world where humans and aliens co-exist with future forms of communication.
